Helios Energy actively supports education programs that help Ontarians learn about solar energy. We’re especially proud to have worked with the York School in Toronto to donate a PV system for the school’s rooftop that acts as a ‘living laboratory’ for students.
In September 2009, several volunteers from the York School’s staff had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the development of a rooftop solar PV system. Working alongside Helios Energy’s partners, employees and trades people, the team installed a 5.32kW solar PV system that Helios Energy donated to the school.
The system is intended to demonstrate the economic and environmental potential of vacant rooftop spaces to other potential hosts of rooftop PV systems, while providing the school’s students with a living laboratory that links what is being taught in the classroom to real-life energy applications.
